All three members of one family were killed in a head-on crash on Osceola Parkway on Monday night, Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said, 17-year-old Adolfo Carmenate, of Orlando, died on the spot after he crashed head-on into a 2003 Toyota Tacoma driven by 49-year-old Mayra I Santiago, traveling west on Osceola Parkway near Coral Wood Circle.
Just after after 10:30 pm, Carmenate was heading east on the Parkway in the center lane, when for an unknown reason he attempted to change into the left lane and lost control of the Honda Civic, crossing the grass median, troopers said.
Carmenate was pronounced dead on the spot.
Two passengers in Carmenate’s vehicle, 17-year-old Yaritza DeJesus Campos and 1-year-old Yaduel Carmenate, both of Kissimmee, were also killed in the crash.
Santiago and her passenger, 24-year-old Esteban Rivera, both of Kissimmee, were taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
Troopers are awaiting Carmenate’s toxicology results to determine whether or not alcohol played a role in the crash.
Both drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts. Little Yaduel was also in a car seat.
