25 Arrested in Central Florida New Year’s Eve DUI Operation

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office conducted “Operation Ball Drop,” a multiple-agency initiative to combat driving under the influence from Friday, December 29, 2023, through January 1, 2024.

HCSO deputies partnered with the Tampa Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol to protect our community from impaired drivers and ensure a safe and enjoyable New Year’s Eve celebration for all.

“Even though New Year’s Eve is a time to celebrate new beginnings, there is never an excuse to drink and drive. Each arrest signifies preventing a potential tragedy,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “I want to express my gratitude to our deputies and collaborative partner agencies who selflessly sacrificed time with their families to ensure the safety of our community. Their dedication is a testament to our commitment to protect and serve.”

“As we step into a new year, let’s make a promise to prioritize responsible choices and shared safety,” added Sheriff Chronister. “Let’s be selfless, understanding that our decisions behind the wheel impact not only ourselves but also the lives of others.”

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office “Operation Ball Drop” results:

  • Traffic stops: 424
