24 People Busted in Undercover Drug Sting

Twenty-four people engaged in illegal street level drug sales have been arrested, after a three-month undercover investigation, Polk County deputies say.

The investigation, which began in late summer, targeted dealers in the Fort Meade area.  Undercover detectives purchased drugs, including powder cocaine, crack cocaine, and cannabis and obtained charges on 11 different individuals resulting from drug transactions.

Last Friday, detectives obtained search warrants for 409 S. Seminole Avenue and 31 Court Street SW, in Fort Meade, where multiple drug transactions took place.   Detectives also went to 4th Street/Highway 17 and 5th Street and French Avenue where undercover agents had purchased drugs in the past.

Deputies say, approximately 3.5 pounds of cannabis, half an ounce of methamphetamine, several grams of crack and powder cocaine were seized.  In addition, a shot-gun and over $2,000 in cash were confiscated.

During the execution of the search warrants and numerous citizen contacts, an additional seventeen subjects were arrested for assorted narcotics violations.
