Orange County Robbery Detectives advised that two men they believe are connected with a string of area hotel robberies are now in custody.
On January 20, 2010 Thomas Davis, 22 years, was arrested in connection with a robbery at a Polk County Denny’s restaurant. Davis was arrested on a warrant for that robbery after a lengthy investigation and surveillance operation. Subsequent search warrants following his arrest enabled detectives to obtain significant articles of evidence, including the vehicle used in at least one of the robberies that connected him with a string of area robberies.
After Davis’ apprehension, he was transported to Central Operations where he was interviewed by Orange County and Polk County Robbery Detectives. Davis cooperated and was linked to the Polk County robbery and later admitted to his involvement in seven robberies in Orange County. Six of the robberies were to local hotels stretching from the Beach Line/Conway Rd. area; John Young Parkway/Sand Lake Road area and to the International Drive area. A second suspect, Jason Brown, was implicated during the interview.
On January 22, 2010 the ongoing investigation into this case enabled detectives to develop Jason Brown, 21 years, as a second suspect in the robbery spree. Brown was arrested without incident last night at the Inn Towne Suites by Orange County Sheriff’s Robbery and TAC Units just after 9:00 PM.
Davis and Brown have been charged with Armed Robbery with a Firearm. Multiple charges are forthcoming with the potential for Federal charges, yet to be determined.
