A 19-year-old Central Florida man driving with bags full of 4.75 pounds marijuana in his car was arrested during a traffic stop.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the attempted traffic stop took place around 12:30pm after the suspect’s car was seen driving north on US-27 and Posner Blvd. Authorities said the car had very dark tinted windows.
The driver, Joan Omar Torres, of Kissimmee, was asked to put the back windows down because the trooper could not see into the car, but then FHP smelled strong marijuana.
Law enforcement said Torres had marijuana on him and in the vehicle, and stated he did not have a medical marijuana card. FHP troopers reportedly found bags full of marijuana with different labels like “LCG,” “MF,” “PLUTO,” “GELATTO 44,” “WHITE FUNTZ,” and “15 Gelato 3 cherry + 332 gms.”
Because authorities thought the marijuana was packaged to be sold to others, Torres was arrested and taken to the Polk County Jail. There was also an 18-year-old woman with Torres as a passenger, but she denied any knowledge of the drugs.
Now the 19-year-old Central Florida man faces charges including possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana over 20 grams, narcotic paraphernalia, and driving while license suspended, according to law enforcement.
