WHAT:
What happens when you combine a team of Central Florida architects, engineers, contractors and designers with about 1,500 canned goods? Canstruction – an annual competition where teams design and build structures made entirely from canned foods … all within an 8’x8’x8’ space. The competition will be sponsored by the American Institute of Architects Orlando and the Orlando Chapter of the Society of Design Administration.
Orlando Fashion Square Mall will house the exhibit from Sunday, October 17 to Sunday, October 24. On October 17, unique animals from the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens will be part of the exhibit, making it more interactive for visitors than ever before. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
At the close of the exhibit, all of the food products used in the designs will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida for distribution to pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, senior programs and low-income daycares.
