12-year-old girl escapes attempted kidnapping on Orange west side

 

imagesOrange County deputies are searching for a man who attempted to abduct a 12-year-old girl on Orange County’s west side, on Tuesday evening.

The incident happened in the area of Ruthie Drive and N. Powers Drive around 5:45 p.m.

The girl told deputies that as she headed southbound on N. Powers Drive, a black male came from behind, grabbed her left arm and began pulling her onto Ruthie Drive. She struggled and managed to break free, the girl said.

The suspect is described as being in his mid-30s, with a thin build, black hair and brown eyes. He has a pointed goatee and a short haircut.  He was wearing a black t-shirt and baggie blue jeans, at the time of the incident.

The Orange County Sheriff Office said, extra patrols are being deployed in the area. And forensic evidence is being sent to the FDLE crime lab.

“A composite sketch of the suspect is not being released at this time,” a statement from OCSO said.
