Orange County (OC) Fire Rescue firefighters were dispatched to three (3) building fires within a two (2) hour timeframe, last evening.
9-1-1 dispatchers received the first call at 10:40 p.m. Thursday from the home owners at 748 Bethune Avenue in the Winter Garden area indicating they could see smoke and flames coming from a bedroom.
Crews arrived on scene to find the back of the home engulfed in flames and began an aggressive attack on the fire.
All occupants evacuated without incident and will receive temporary housing assistance from the American Red Cross.
While still fighting the fire on Bethune Avenue, 9-1-1 dispatchers began receiving calls from residents of the Nob Hill apartments located at 600 N. Semoran Avenue.
Fire crews arrived at the apartment complex just before midnight to find the laundry room and attached structure fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters had to fight the fire in defensive mode using an aerial truck to attack the fire in the attic. Firefighters had the fire under control in 30-minutes.
In the process of extinguishing the Nob Hill fire, 9-1-1 dispatchers began receiving frantic calls from neighbors indicating the mobile home located at 9668 4th Avenue in Taft was on fire.
Fire crews arrived on the scene to find a mobile home engulfed in flames and quickly began to extinguish the fire. The single resident of this home self evacuated without incident and will stay with family members.
There were no reports of injury to firefighters or civilians in any of the three (3) fires. The State Fire Marshals office will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the fires.
In all, Orange County Fire Rescue Department committed approximately 100 personnel to the three (3) fires without compromising the safety of its citizens throughout Orange County.
