A man, believed to be responsible for murdering a woman twenty years ago, was arrested on Monday, deputies said.
50-year-old David Hedrick, of Apopka, is accused of murdering Betty Clair Foster in 1991.
Investigators say, Hedrick was identified when the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office were notified of a “hit” made through the state’s DNA Database. Hedrick’s DNA, which was submitted to the Database due to his recent conviction for failure to remit state taxes, matched DNA left at the scene of Foster’s murder.
“Time and technology caught up with the killer,” said Seminole County Sheriff Don Eslinger. “This case may have been cold, but our investigation never stopped, and now justice can finally be sought for Betty Foster.”
Foster was stabbed to death during the afternoon of Jan. 31, 1991 while she worked alone at My Comp, a computer store that was then located at 1501 S.R. 436 in Casselberry.
Foster was 50-years-old at the time of her death.
Hedrick was booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility. He has been charged with murder in the first degree and is being held on no bond. His first appearance is scheduled for today at 1:30 p.m.
He should have paid his taxes
