Orange County’s west side will get a major boost with the opening of the Barnett Park Football Field on West Colonial Drive next Wednesday, June 9th.
Funded by a legislative grant secured by Senator Gary Siplin (D-Orlando) through the State of Florida, the new $200,000 field boasts lights and bleacher seating.
The recreational facility, which also incorporates a cricket pitch to serve cricket lovers in the area, is expected to be utilized by hundreds of youths, providing a quality playing field for football practice and tournaments.
District 6 Commissioner Tiffany Moore Russell, who was instrumental in spearheading the conversations with community leaders and groups to determine what recreation facility was desired in Barnett Park, will join the Orange County Parks and Recreation Division, Manager-Matt Suedmeyer, in celebrating the Grand Opening of the Barnett Parks Football Field next Wednesday.
The ceremony will commence at 5:30 pm, with a ribbon cutting at 5:50 pm. All area residents are invited to attend.
