Republican congressional candidate Todd Long (R-Winter Park) confirmed earlier this week that his faltering campaign has no support from the Republican establishment. The admission came during an interview on Tuesday morning with radio host Bud Hedinger on WFLA.
Asked if he is getting any significant help from the Republican Party, Long replied ‘no.’ But Hedinger continued to press Long.
BUD: You must feel like you’ve been thrown overboard by the Republican Party.
LONG: Oh, absolutely…
BUD: It looks to me like they’ve thrown in the towel and conceded the seat to Grayson.
LONG: You said it. I agree with you.
Meanwhile, Alan Grayson (D-Orlando) enjoys strong support from his party. Grayson was recently named by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) as one of three “Majority Maker” candidates. This title brings with it the Democratic National Party’s highest level of support for a congressional candidate.
The DCCC has committed to spending nearly $2 million on advertising in the Orlando television market for Grayson and his fellow Democrats, including congressional candidate Val Demings (D-Orlando).
Grayson is the Democratic nominee in Florida’s heavily Democratic 9th District, which encompasses Orange, Osceola and Polk counties. The latest poll has Grayson beating Long by more than 14 points.
Will someone explain to me what is going on with the Republican establishment and this race? Todd Long is everything we need in Congress. He can count on him to do the right things to get this country back on track. He will not be a “yes” man. He has solutions including replacing the IRS Income Tax with the http://www.FairTax.org and backs them up. He is a statesman, a patriot and a GREAT AMERICAN who wants to help every American and is especially concerned about our children and grandchildren. It if is a grass roots effort that we need to get Todd elected than that’s what we will do. ALL you great American Conservatives get out there and EARLY vote “TODD LONG FOR CONGRESS”.
