Habitat opens Second Orlando Retail Outlet

Habitat for Humanity Orlando has opened its second ReStore, the non-profit organization’s retail outlet. Located at 4835 E. Colonial Drive, the new store is in its soft opening and a grand opening will follow in early 2010.

“We are excited about the second Orlando ReStore,” said Tom May, director of retail operations for the two locations. “Now that we have a presence in two key areas of Orlando, we are better positioned to serve customers and sell more goods, and to support our mission of providing decent, affordable housing to Central Florida families.”

The ReStore accepts donated goods, including home décor and furnishings, as well as building and remodeling supplies like doors, appliances, plumbing materials and lumber. Inventory is donated by individuals, as well as manufacturers, contractors and stores that provide overstocked and discontinued items. The ReStore sells these items to the public for a fraction of the original cost (anywhere from 30-70 percent off retail prices) – and the proceeds go toward helping build more homes for local families in need of housing.

In addition to opening the new ReStore, May will transform the existing store, located at 2105 N. Orange Blossom Trail, to make the design more customer-friendly.
