Florida Teen gets Life Sentence for Brutal Murder

Charlie Kay Ely

One of five defendants charged with the brutal death of Seath Tyler Jackson, a Florida teen last year, was sentenced Monday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

19-year-old Charlie Kay Ely, who was found guilty in September of first degree murder, cried as the sentence was read yesterday. But, even as she cried, Seath’s mother told her, “I have no sympathy for the tears you shed,” reports dailymail.com.

Ely, along with the four others defendants, Kyle Hooper, 17, Amber E. Wright, 15, Justin Soto, 20, Michael S. Bargo, 19, lured the victim, Seath Tyler Jackson, 15, to a home in Ocala last April, where he was beaten and shot because one of the boys had a grudge against him over a girl.   Detectives said at the time of the investigation, Seath’s body was placed in a sleeping bag, burned in a fire pit and shoveled into several paint containers.

Ely is the first to be sentenced for the horrific crime. Outside the court room her family was devasted by the sentence, reports dailymail.com.

37-year-old James Young Havens III, knew of the plan to kill Jackson, detectives said, and assisted with the disposal of his remains.  He was charged with being an accessory after the fact to first degree murder.

Investigators believe that Bargo was the actual trigger man and court watchers say, if convicted, he could face the death penalty.
