After an exchange of gunfire that wounded a suspect and an officer, Orange County deputies arrested a 16-year-old boy at the scene of a convenience store robbery.
Another deputy was injured responding to a “shots fired” assistance call when his motorcyle crashed into a trailer being towed by another vehicle, according to Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings.
The convenience store, near the intersection of Pine Hills and Silver Star, was roped-off by yellow crime scene tape while investigators tried to piece together a rather unusual set of events.
Demings, in a press conference at Orlando Regional Medical Center, said deputies observed a Dodge Intrepid that had been reported stolen.
“They followed him into the gas station when they observed that he had a gun,” Demings said. “That’s when they realized the teen was attempting to rob the gas station.
