Deputies shot and killed a pit bull, after the dog bit a 10-year-old boy on Sunday on Fiske Circle, Orange County deputies said.
On June 27, 2010 at approximately 6:22 pm, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 9-1-1 call in reference to an aggressive pit-bull that bit a 10-year-old boy. Deputies responded to the scene and were informed that the child was bitten in the leg and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Once deputies located the dog they attempted to locate the owner, but were unable. Animal Control was contacted and advised they would respond. While deputies awaited the arrival of Animal Control the pit-bull charged at one of the deputies who had no option but to fire a round, striking the dog. The dog succumbed to the injuries and Animal Control took possession of it.
