The head of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) today expressed her deep concern over reports that a Saudi Arabian court has ruled that the marriage of an eight-year-old girl is legally binding. “Irrespective of circumstances or the legal framework, the marriage of a child is a violation of that child’s rights,” UNICEF Executive Director Anne M. Veneman stressed in a statement.
Tot Mom, Casey Anthony could be put to death, if convicted for the murder of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee. Today, the State Attorney’s Office did an about face and decided to pursue the death penalty in the case against Tot Mom. Initially, prosecutors had decided not to pursue the death penalty, but this has all changed based on the evidence.
US First Lady Michelle Obama, visited the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School in Islington, north London earlier today. In speaking to the students, she said that they had “very much” in common with her, given her own upbringing. “I am an example of what is possible when girls from the very beginning of their lives are loved and nurtured by people around them”, Mrs. Obama said.
Casey Anthony’s childhood friend, Kiomarie Cruz was questioned Wednesday by defense attorney, Jose Baez. Cruz is best known for selling her story to the National Enquirer for $20,000 and some argue that make her less credible. Cruz told the National Enquirer the area where Caylee’s body was found is the same spot where she and the Tot Mom spent a lot of time.
Tot Mom does not want to write or answer questions in relation to the defamation case brought against her by lawyers on behalf of Zenaida Gonzalez. Tot Mom’s lawyer filed a protective order which says that she could incriminate herself in the murder case, if she is required to answer oral or written questions.
Casey Anthony, the Tot Mom charged in the disappearance of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow, Wednesday. The hearing is to discuss whether or not there is a conflict of interest and if there are any book or movie deals in the works, which could in turn, influence the case.
