On Wednesday, Orange County deputies have arrested a man who they believe shot and killed two young adults in a home in Taft.

39-year-old Laureano “Larry” Romero was arrested just before 6:00 p.m. in Wednesday evening in downtown Orlando.   He was taken into custody without incident.

Authorities believe Romero shot and killed DeAngelo Cox, 22, and Nick Lewis, 21, around noon yesterday in a residence in the 200 block 4th Street in Taft.  A witness, call 911 around that time to report that shots were heard coming from the residence.

Deputies observed a window shattered by gunfire when they arrived at the home. Both Cox and Lewis were found deceased inside the home, victims of gunshot wounds.   Neither lived at the residence, authorities said.

According to news reports, Cox and Lewis grew up going to the Boys and Girls Club as kids and were well liked by the children at the Club where they both worked.  Neither Cox nor Lewis has ever been in trouble with the law.

Investigators would not say what might have led Romero to fatally shoot Cox and Lewis, only that all three knew each other.

Authorities are not looking for anyone else in this double murder.

Romero was booked into the Orange County Jail and is being held without bond.
