An elementary school teacher is in jail, accused of “yanking” and “grabbing” two 4-year-old kids as she disciplined them.
35-year-old Alison Workman, of Peppertree Street in Cocoa, who is an exceptional education teacher at Mila Elementary School, turned herself into deputies after a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Deputies began their investigation earlier this month after it became apparent that Workman had disciplined two 4-year-old special needs kids in an inappropriate manner. Investigators say, Workman’s abuse centered on her “yanking” and “grabbing” the children in such a manner that left discernible marks and scratches.
Workman was charged with two counts of felony child abuse and booked into the Brevard County Jail on a $2,000 bond. She has been placed on administrative leave.
