Managed-care plans that serve Medicaid beneficiaries in a five-county pilot program likely will receive a rate increase of about 10.8 percent, the Agency for Health Care Administration officials said Monday.
Tom Wallace, acting chief in the agency’s Bureau of Medicaid Program Analysis, said actuaries have approved the proposed increase, which still could change slightly this week before contracts are signed with health plans.
The pilot program, which started in 2006, requires most Medicaid beneficiaries in Broward, Duval, Clay, Nassau and Baker counties to enroll in HMOs or another type of managed-care plan, known as provider-service networks.
Among the factors contributing to the increase are hospital costs.
