A Lakeland Police Office was arrested on Friday, accused of harassing a woman with whom he had a romantic extra-marital affair.
44-year-old Billy Wayne Skinner was charged with one count of stalking/harassing his ex-lover, a first degree misdemeanor, Polk County Sheriff’s deputies said.
According to the Arrest Affidavit, Skinner was involved with the woman for about a year-and-a half, when the relationship end in April 2011.
Although the relationship had ended, the woman told police she continued to receive a series of telephone calls from an “unknown” number and a “private” number.
The woman suspected that the calls were coming from Skinner. She told police in one of the message, Skinner asked back for a toe ring and butterfly necklace he had given her and threatened to expose photographs of her (the woman) to her husband with whom she was reconciling.
In an interview with police, Skinner initially denied the phone calls to his ex-lover, but later admitted to making some of them.
Skinner was arrested at Sleepy Hill Elementary where he works as a School Resource Officer for the Lakeland Police Department.
