Orange County Parks and Recreation Division Plans Festive Holiday Events

Take time this holiday season to enjoy the simplicity of Florida’s wilderness life, view the sparkling lights of a decorated estate, or spend time with Santa by the lake!

  • The 33rd annual Cracker Christmas celebration will be held Saturday, December 4th and Sunday 5th, 10am – 4pm at Fort Christmas Historical Park, 1300 Fort Christmas Rd., Christmas. Come out and enjoy a weekend filled with Florida Cracker/pioneer re-enactors who will demonstrate their ways of life, including techniques for spinning, weaving, quilting, lace making, wood carving, blacksmithing, broom making, hide tanning, soap making and more. Santa stops by at 1pm on both days! Plus browse among more than 150 crafters with hand-made items, community booths and clubs. For information, call Fort Christmas Park at 407-568-4149.
  • Cypress Grove Park and estate house will be adorned with thousands of twinkling lights and holiday displays, Monday, December 6th – Friday 10th, 6:30pm – 9:30pm. Located at 290 Holden Ave., Orlando, the park provides this glorious Festival of Lights that you drive through and enjoy from the warmth of your vehicle for only $2 per night. Among this year’s special activities is District 4 Commissioner Linda Stewart’s Holiday Under the Stars on Friday 10th, 7pm – 9pm. Bring blankets, a picnic basket and lawn chairs for your comfort as you listen to your favorite holiday hits, sung by some of Orlando’s finest performers.   • The jolly old elf himself makes a spectacular arrival by airboat for An Afternoon With Santa at Magnolia Park’s lakeside pavilion, 2929 S. Binion Rd., Apopka, on Saturday, December 11th, 1pm – 3pm. For just $3 per child, there will be games, holiday crafts, cookie decorating, a bounce house and more. Plus, bring blankets, a picnic basket and lawn chairs because at 6pm the free Movie in the Park: Polar Express will take your imagination for ride!
