A woman who led deputies on a high-speed chase on Orange County east side, driving up to 100 miles per hour and at times, in the wrong direction, was arrested on Monday night.
Shawna L. Schaefer, 31, of Chulutoa, Florida, was taken into custody near University Boulevard and North Mira Drive following a stop that began near the intersection of Hertha Avenue and Bonneville Drive. Before speeding off, she rammed a cop car, deputies said.
The chase lasted 20 minutes during which Schaefer drove on several streets, including Bonneville Drive, Lake Pickett Road, North Tanner Road where she ran a red light, and East Michell Hammock Road, before her Honda stopped near University Boulevard.
Deputies also say, Schaefer mostly drove between 80 miles per hour and 100 miles per hour, as deputies pursued her with their lights and siren.
Schaefer faces several charges including, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding, resisting an officer without violence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license.
