If you are working on a project and looking for U.S. census data, you are out of luck. As the government has shut down, so have several government websites. The message below appeared on census.gov website:
Due to the lapse in government funding, census.gov sites, services, and all online survey collection requests will be unavailable until further notice.
Updates regarding government operating status and resumption of normal operations can be found at <usa.gov>.
Websites affected by this shutdown are all census.gov hosted websites, including:
- Census.gov
- American Factfinder
- Public API
- FTP Servers
- FAQs
- Blogs
- Online Surveys
- Federal Statistical Organization websites: FCSM, FedStats and MapStats
Other government websites that are not up and running include, the Agriculture Department’s USDA.gov, Library of Congress’ site and the Federal Trade Commission’s website – all rich sources of information.
