Thousands of construction of jobs and hundreds of million of dollars will be flooding into Volusia County with the anticipated overhaul of the Daytona International Speedway, large beachside hotel development and the planned research and technology park at Emby-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Beginning early next month, a $400 million upgrade of the Daytona International Speedway will commence and according to officials 4,000 jobs will be generated over the 2 1/2- year construction period.
Then there is the Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona Beach which is expected to begin construction later this year or early 2014 and bring with it, 650 construction jobs.
Also, Protogroup plans to begin construction on a $150 million beachside/condo complex in August which is expected to generate another 900 construction jobs, news-journalonline reports.
While Emby-Riddle Aeronautical University has not said how many jobs are likely to be created with the planned research and technology park, reports are that it could be huge.
Some local builders in the area are already worrying that there will be a shortage of skilled workers with all the new projects coming on stream.
