Two Women Killed in Apopka Crash Involving Motorcycle, Pick-up

Fatal-Crash-generic-27825957-480-x-270A female motorcyclist and her passenger were killed on Sunday, when a pickup truck turned into their direct path in Orange County, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Diana Gilboy, 43, of Orange City, the driver of the motorcycle and passenger Sarah Post, 34, of Sanford, were traveling westbound on Haas Road in Apopka, around 11:00 am.

Troopers say, Matthew Hoyt, 38, of Umatilla, exiting a private driveway at 2203 Haas Road and attempting to make a left turn, traveled into the direct path of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle and pick-up truck caught fire after the collision, troopers also say.

Gilboy and Post were taken to Florida Hospital in Apopka, where they were pronounced dead. Both women were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Hoyt suffered serious injuries; his passenger, Michael Richards, 32, of Tavares, sustained minor injuries.

Troopers say, the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
