The trial of a Miramar man accused of beheading his girlfriend and dumping her body in a field in October 2009, got underway in Broward County.

Paul Edwards, 49, was arrested in April 2010 and charged with first degree murder, after investigators say, he chopped off the head of his missing girlfriend, Lisa Spence, 35, and put it in a barrel.

Spence was found with 33 stab wounds, minus her head.
