Justin informed me Blockbuster was planning on filing bankruptcy and will be closing over 970 stores this year. I’m not sure if the numbers or story is accurate but doubt there were any motives for Justin to lead me to an untruth.
2010 Census Recruiting Hundreds of Workers
The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting about 1,000 temporary, part-time census takers for the 2010 in several counties including, Volusia, Flagler and Putnam. Census takers will work right in their own communities and about 20 to 40 hours a week from April to July.

Clean Energy gets $5b More for Green Jobs!
At a Middle Class Task Force meeting today which focused on manufacturing, Vice President Biden announced the Administration’s support for up to $5 billion in additional funding for a successful Recovery Act program that will accelerate job growth in Clean Energy Manufacturing. This increase would more than triple the funding of the Recovery Act’s Section 48C Advanced Energy Manufacturing Tax Credit.
Major Jobs Growth Industries and those in Decline
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics announced last week that total employment is projected to increase by 15.3 million, or 10.1 percent during the 2008-2018 period. According to the projections, more than half of the new jobs will be in professional and related occupations and service occupations. Where a post-secondary degree is required, these jobs are expected to account for one-third of job openings during the 10 year projection period.
Moment of Truth for Republicans on Jobs Plan
President Obama met with a number of Republican and Democratic leaders today at the White House, to whip up support for the Administration’s jobs program. Noting that it was no secret that there was little bipartisan support for the Recovery Act, Obama said that “spurring hiring and economic growth are not Democratic or Republican issues”.

Today, President Obama laid out a comprehensive set of measures which he said would help spur job creation and lead to sustained economic growth of the U.S. economy. Among the measures, Obama called for helping small business expand investment, investing in infrastructure and creating green jobs.
