Senator Siplin Helps the Homeless

Orlando – State Senator Gary Siplin (D-Orlando) along with Total Wine & More presented a check for $5,000 to Bakari F. Burns CEO, Health Care Center for the Homeless and Beverly Neal of Florida State Conference NAACP on Saturday April 7 at the Official Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening Ceremony for Total Wine & More. Total Wine & More asked Senator Siplin to participate in their ribbon cutting ceremony; they also gave him the honor of choosing a charitable organization to receive a donation which is traditional when they open a new store. Sentor Siplin chose the Florida State Conference of NAACP whose mission is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination. Beverly Neal was honered that Senator Siplin chose this organization. The Health Care Center for the Homeless has been providing quality health care services to Central Florida’s homeless and indigent men, women and children for over a decade. Senator Siplin said “they are making the community a healthier place and helping the homeless back to self-sufficiency that makes for a better community”. Bakari Burns said that “I am greatful that the Senator noticed the work we are doing and I am thankful for the donation”.
