Orlando tops a list of 10 most crime ridden cities, nationwide, according to a new report by CreditDonkey, a credit card comparison site that publishes credit card data and research. Atlanta, Georgia grabs the second spot with Miami/Pompano Beach, Florida considered as the third worst city for crime.
According to CreditDonkey, Orlando has the seventh highest total crime rate in the country and the 10th highest rate of ID theft. The city ranked 22nd in violent crimes.
The company, which considered several criteria for determining rankings, placed heavy reliance on violent crime, including murder, robbery and aggravated assault; ID theft and fraud. Also factored into the rankings were other types of crimes, such as those involving properties, burglaries, thefts, arson, as well as Internet crime.
Crime rates were determined through metropolitan-level statistics, based on the number of people per 100,000 who were victimized by a major incident in the area or, in the cases of Internet-related crimes, the number of incidents per 100,000 people in each state, CreditDonkey noted.
