Update: Missing 8-Year-Old Boy, Last Seen Fleeing Crash Site, Found

Update: April 23, 4:30 p.m. 

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said, both Jonathan Smittle and his father, Christopher, have been located in Cape Coral. They are both safe.

The crash is still under investigation.

Polk County deputies are looking for a missing and endangered 8-year-old boy, last seen with his father early on Thursday morning.

Investigators say, Jonathan Smittle, 8, of Cape Coral, was last seen around 2:30 a.m., fleeing with his father from a traffic crash on Interstate 4, near mile marker 51.

The crash involved his father, Christopher Smittle’s car and other vehicles. Jonathan was a vehicle in his father’s car when the crash occurred. Witnesses observed Jonathan, possibly limping while running away from the scene with this father.

Jonathan is 4 feet tall, weighs about 50 pounds and has blond hair and blue eyes.

The pair’s last known address is 2709 SW 11th Place in Cape Coral.
