A man, believed to be suicidal, was pulled from a lake downtown Orlando on Thursday, police said.

Officer Jason Englehardt spotted the man in the middle of Lake Greenwood in the 1400 block of Greenwood near Mills and State Road 408.

When the man disappeared in the water, Officer Engelhardt went into the lake, located the man in the murky water and pulled him to safety.

The man was kept in a rescue breathing position by Officer Engelhardt, until Orlando Fire Department arrived.

OPD said, the man is in stable condition and is expected to survive.   He is identified as a 26-year-old white male and was possibly attempting suicide, police said.

  1. This story is completely inaccurate!!! The police officer did not pull the man out of the water. Rather 2 men ran to rescue the young man when they heard calls of distress. They tried to coach the man out of the water but when the man went under they rushed in to pull him out. the police later showed up and assisted the men.
