PCAN, Orange County healthcare services program Annouces new Officers

The Primary Care Access Network (PCAN) which provides healthcare services to more than 92,000 uninsured and underinsured residents of Orange County has elected new officers to its Executive Committee.

The board re-elected Chairwoman Maureen Kersmarki, Regional Director of Government and Public Affairs for Florida Hospital. Executive Committee Vice Presidents are: Leslie Smith, DO, CEO, Central Florida Family Health Centers, Susan Jackson, Sr. Vice President, Health Central Hospital and Bakari Burns, CEO, Health Care Center for the Homeless. They will serve two-year terms. The Executive Committee consists of the board chair, past chair, two vice chairs and PCAN Administrator Margaret Brennan, Manager of Health Services for Orange County Government.

PCAN is a dynamic collaborative among Orange County Government, primary health care centers, community agencies, hospitals and other social services. PCAN’s mission is to improve the access, quality and coordination of healthcare services to the underinsured and uninsured populations of Orange County. The PCAN model is centered on community-based Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) that serves as “medical homes” for uninsured patients. FQHCs provide primary care (including OB-Gyn, pediatrics, dental and behavioral health) on a sliding fee scale. Medicaid, Medicare and public and private payer sources are also accepted. ”
