Orlando Man arrested for Shooting at Sheriff’s Helicopter

An Orlando man who earlier today, took aim at an Orange County Sheriff’s helicopter, then fled into a residence while trying to dispose of the weapon, has been arrested.

According to Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies:

On March 21st, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 9-1-1 in reference to shots fired in the area of 7519 Pacific Heights Circle.  Units responded to the scene along with Chase and K-9.  While deputies attempted to establish a perimeter they heard additional shots being fired.  Several deputies and residents in the neighborhood also witnessed the suspect fire a round at Chase.  The suspect then ran into the residence and attempted to dispose of the weapon.

Patrol Units surrounded the residence and made contact with the occupants inside the home.  An elderly female and four males exited the residence.  The last male to exit the residence was identified as the shooter by deputies and witness.

The suspect, Jason Mcguire, 26 years, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, and shooting at an occupied aircraft.

Detectives said they recovered the fire arm and no one was injured during the incident.
