Norwegian Airlines is scheduled to begin flying into Orlando International Airport next May 2014.  The new route between Oslo, Norway and Orlando is the airport’s first non-stop to Scandinavia.

The new service is estimated to have an economic impact of $36.7 million annually, which is “good news for local jobs and our local economy,” said Frank Kruppenbacher, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

Norwegian also announced new service to Los Angeles and Oakland-San Francisco, in addition to Orlando.

The initial B-787 Dreamliner service into Orlando is scheduled for two-days-a-week, Thursday and Saturday, with a seat capacity of 291 passengers. Besides non-stop service to Norway, the new route will also afford passengers direct connections to destinations in Europe, Russia and Thailand.

To help launch the service, Norwegian is offering an introductory fare of $236 each way, including taxes and fees.
