Yet, Another Muslim Terrorist

The Gantt Report

The Nigerian born man who attempted to blow up a commercial airplane should get the harshest punishment that God and the law will allow.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab--Undiebomber

There is never a righteous reason to kill innocent people!

If the Nigerian people were trying to get back at someone for doing something to him, he should do harm to the perpetrators, not to innocent women, children and babies who happen to be on a plane ride.

The Nigerian has been described as a Muslim. Perhaps he is but he is in no way similar to the people I know that practice Islam, the religion.

The Muslims that I know are loving, caring, kind and peaceful. Yes, they will cut your throat if they are provoked and wronged in some way but they not very much different than Christians that are strong in their faith and refused to be misused or abused.

When I thought about the failed murder attempt and the young man involved, I thought about Africa.

The young man discarded and dismissed the religion of his ancestors and chose to believe a religious leader that had done little for him and even less for his family, friends and neighbors.

You have a right to freedom of religion and can practice what you desire but at least be smart enough to pray to a God that is on your side, blessing you and helping you where you are, in your country, in your community and in your home.

Malcolm X once said, “If your religion is not doing anything for you, you don’t need it anyway.”

Back to Africa, the Nigerian may have known what his “leaders” told him about religion but I wonder if he knew Islam, and Christianity too, have some Motherland origins.

When Muslims came to Africa, the Africans there already had a religion. The original religion was an African religion.

Anyway, when they got there, the Muslims were welcomed by the peaceful, communal Africans. Once in Africa, the small Muslim neighborhoods quickly became industrial and merchant centers because the Muslims had connections and trade routes.

Subsequently, some Africans became interested in Islam. Initially, the Africans practiced both Islam and their own African religions. Later, like today, many persons interested in Islam are told to adhere to “traditional” Islam or have nothing to do with Islam at all.

I know tears are being shed in Nigeria right now about the Nigerian bomber and his choice of whom he listened to as spokesmen of chosen faith.

Tears are also being shed by many Yorubas in Africa and elsewhere because Nigeria is the center of the Yoruba World and some of the strongest, and most feared I should say, religious leaders in the world were available to him for counseling and or discussion about anything.

But he chose to believe God wanted him to kill innocent people or at least believe the people that told him that was what God or Allah wanted him to do.

A hypocrite is the worst thing you can be in both Islam and Christianity but being a false prophet is right up there with it.

I urge all of my brothers who believe that God is the greatest to keep your faith but also understand the devil is still the devil and it doesn’t matter if he wears a three piece suit or a robe and a turban!

A devil will tell you to kill innocent people and let the wicket perpetrators go free!
