Mayor Dyer Talks Transportation, Mobility at First Senior Citizens Summit

LYNXbusWHAT:
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and his Committee on Aging will host the first Senior Summit on Mobility on Wednesday, October 15, to connect senior citizens with safe travel options and public transportation. The summit will bring together local mobility organizations and nonprofit groups to provide information directly to seniors on Orlando’s transportation opportunities available to them.
WHY:
More than 20 percent of adults ages 65 and older do not drive personal vehicles and even more have trouble navigating public transit.  Studies show that seniors who do not drive make fewer visits to friends and family, make fewer trips to shop or eat out and make fewer trips to the doctor. With the 65-and-older population expected to rise by 60 percent within the next 15 years, the needs of seniors will continue to increase.
