Local Restaurants Hit Hard By Recession

Signs of the growing economic recession are visibly apparent in one part of Orlando. In just the past eight months, four major restaurant chains have shut down along a stretch of East Colonial Drive near Orlando Fashion Square.

There is a sign on the door of the building where the Bennigan’s restaurant used to operate that says it is closed until further notice, along with a chain and lock.

Directly across the street is another closed-down restaurant and another next door to that one.

Amigos, Uno Chicago Grill, Bennigan’s and T.G.I. Fridays used to be neighbors on East Colonial near Orlando Fashion Square. Now, the signs are gone, the grass is overgrown and the buildings are abandoned.
