Lake County & School District promote Miracle Field event

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners and the Lake County School Board are proud to support the kick-off event for Lake County’s Miracle Field on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 9 a.m. at the ball field adjacent to the Mid Lakes Christian Church, located at 3701 North Eichelberger Road in Tavares. The North Lake & South Lake Miracle League game will follow the event.

The planned Miracle Field will be a custom-designed cushioned synthetic surface to literally “level” the playing field for all participants. Once completed, children of all abilities will be able to enjoy the game of baseball in its purest form.

The Miracle Field will be located at Lake Idamere Park, located at 12335 County Road 448 in Tavares, next to the Boundless Playground, a unique play area specifically designed to assure that children of all abilities are able to play in a safe area created to meet their special needs.

The Lake County Miracle League is spearheading The Miracle Field Campaign in partnership with the Children’s Foundation of Lake County. The goal is to raise money for constructing the field and all of the site accessories to help Lake County’s children with disabilities build self-worth, overcome boundaries and achieve their dreams by participating in sports.

Individuals, local businesses and foundations can take advantage of naming opportunities, make a one-time donation in any amount or establish a monthly plan for contributing to The Miracle Field. Donations are tax deductible and will be put to use helping to make the dream of playing sports a reality to boys and girls of all abilities. An account has been set up at United Southern Bank for The Miracle Field. Branches are available in Astor, Eustis, Clermont, Lady Lake, Leesburg, Mount Dora, Tavares and Umatilla.

This is an exciting opportunity to give back something tangible to your community that can be used for decades to come,” said Lake County School Board Member Debbie Stivender.
