Jamaican Olympic Gold Medalist Honored in South Florida

A celebration to honor Beijing Olympic Gold Medalist and South Florida resident, Michael Frater, is set to continue in his adopted hometown today.
County Line Chiropractic Centers and the Jamaican Diaspora Foundation, Southeastern USA, began celebrating Frater at a function to be held on Sunday, October 19.


The celebration will continue today, Monday, October 20.  Joining Frater in the celebrations will be gold medalist Asafa Powell, Nester Carter, silver medalists Sherone Simpson as well as Trinidadian silver medalist Darryl Brown, all members of the Jamaican-based MVP Track Club.
Frater and his teammates were honored at a private, invitation only, reception on Sunday, after which they will attend a fete a Stingerz Night Club to celebrate Michael`s birthday with family and friends on Sunday night. 
This afternoon they will tour the County Line Chiropractic Centers main office in Miami Gardens where they will be publicly honored by city and county officials.
A resident of North Lauderdale, Frater ran the second leg on Jamaica’s world record-breaking 4 X 100-m relay team that ran 37.10 for Olympic Gold in Beijing.  In 2005, he was the Pan Am Games 100m Champion, and won the Silver medal at the IAAF World Championships of Athletics 100m behind Justin Gatlin.  In 2008, he set his personal best in the 100-m, 9.97 seconds.
The County Line Chiropractic Centers are dedicated to providing the highest quality comprehensive care to people with injuries, pain and disabilities. 
The MVP Track and Field Club was founded in 1999 by Stephen Francis, Paul Francis, David Noel and Bruce James to provide Jamaican athletes a Jamaican option for post high school track and field training.
