Has Anyone Seen Tiffany?

District 6 Commissioner, Tiffany Moore

Its been eleven months since Tiffany Moore was elected to Orange County District 6.  So, now what?

Has anyone seen her lately?

If you’ll recall, the race for District 6 was hotly contested, and ended in a virtual dead heat in the primary, with Tiffany Moore and Bruce Antone getting 37.92% and 37.46% of the vote, respectively. Juan Lynum, the son of Orlando City Commissioner Daisy Lynum, was third in a field of five. Tiffany Moore ultimately won the election at the General Election, defeating Bruce Antone by a 53%-47% margin.

Many wondered aloud how Tiffany Moore, an inexperienced wannabe could defeat an experienced politician like Bruce Antone.  Some even credited the free chicken and ice cream that she doled out while campaigning as the single deciding factor in her victory. Others claim that Antone was lazy and ran a lackluster campaign, resting on his laurels and taking for granted the influence of Mable Butler and her ability to get out the vote.

So, now after nearly a year in office, what has Tiffany Moore done to benefit the most urbanized and diverse district in Orange County?  Nothing.

Other than selecting some very good people to work in her office, she has been relatively silent on all of the major issues, except for the community venues vote.  You’ll remember that she voted along with District 2 Commissioner Fred Brummer and voted against the single largest effort that would benefit District and its minority population.

Her silence is appalling on the major issues facing the everyday residents.  Crime is rampant, LYNX is still providing inadequate service and beautification of District 6 has been completely forgotten.

Other than secure herself a $75,000.00 a year job, Ms. Moore is still absent, operating in the dark while her constituents come to view her as just another do nothing, absentee, politician who got over on them with some free food handouts.

The tragedy of her being elected only reinforces the negative stereotypes that have come to be synonymous with urban decay and the old tired racial politics of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

What about results Tiffany?  What about the crime issues dogging the residents of your district?  The school system could sure use leadership, where are you on that.  Is Mable Butler on vacation, unable to hold your hand and tell what to say and how to say it?

For Gods sake, District 6 is in trouble and theres a wannabe calling herself a commissioner in the most urbanized district in the county.

Perhaps Ms. Moore could take a few lessons from Orlando City Commissioner Daisy Lynum.  Ms. Lynum has a strong track record of defending her district and pursuing an agenda that benefits the west side.

With three years left to go in her anemic representation, one can only hope that she wakes up, realizes that the district is in trouble and decides that she’d like to create some sort of legacy.

After all, we know she can do it.  She beat Bruce Antone didn’t she?
