Florida Man running naked through street, killed by driver

A 22-year-old man running naked through the street in Hollywood, Florida was shot and killed by a passing driver, police said.

Jandei Cherry, an aspiring musician and father, was shot dead on October 6, after suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach.

According to reports, the gunman, Duke Laguerre, 29, spotted Cherry running naked as he drove along Hollywood Boulevard.  Laguerre told investigators he was driving along when he saw a naked man.  Initially, he drove by, but turned around and went to check on the naked man, he said.

Both men – Laguerre and Cherry  – argued and the confrontation becoming physical, ending with Laguerre pulling a gun and shooting Cherry.

Cherry died at the Memorial Regional Hospital, according to news reports.

Cherry was running naked to his home, a 10 mile trek, as a friend had removed his clothing, cell phone and wallet from a beach where the two were together, earlier.

Laguerre has not been charged in connection with Cherry’s murder.
