FHP: Wrong-way Drunk Driver Kills Orlando Motorist on SR 528


A man driving drunk and in the wrong direction on a roadway Saturday night, struck and killed the driver of another vehicle in Orange County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Wade Liles, 42, driving a Ford Explorer, was heading eastbound on State Road 528 in the westbound lanes when he collided head-on with a 1997 Mercedes driven by Louchon B. Jackson, 45, of Orlando.  Jackson, was traveling westbound on SR 528, in the right through lane.

Troopers say, after the impact, the Mercedes traveled to the north shoulder of SR 528, rotated clockwise and the rear struck a palm tree.

Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene. Jackson’s son, Louchon Jackson, Jr., 17, who was in the car, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Florida Hospital South.

Liles fled the scene of the crash headed eastbound on State Road 528, troopers say.   He suffered minor injuries and was taken to Dr. Phillips Hospital.

Liles was later arrested for leaving the scene involving death, DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and driving the wrong way on a roadway.

The crash occurred just before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday night, near mile marker 34.
