Examine Internet Sales Tax says Scott Team

Advisers to incoming Gov. Rick Scott said Wednesday that the state needs to develop a comprehensive strategy in dealing with Internet sales tax issues.

The Gov.-elect has been briefed on issues by his transition team throughout the week and released the team’s proposals to the public. Some lawmakers have pushed for an Internet sales tax in the past, but the legislative leadership has failed to get behind the idea. According to documents released by the team, Scott should examine the issue when he takes office.

“The Internet sales tax issue is a growing concern both in the volume of revenue not being collected and in its impact to Florida businesses,” the group wrote. “The State needs a fair, efficient and aggressive strategy to deal with this issue both from a policy and implementation perspective.”
