Dr. P. Phillips Hospital Celebrates “Pink October” with Inaugural Hope Hike

Dr. P. Phillips Hospital celebrated “Pink October”, breast cancer awareness month, with its first ever Hope Hike.

Orange County Commissioner Scott Boyd and Susan Williams, Chief Nursing Officer, Dr. P. Phillips Hospital led the event.  Dr. P. Phillips Hospital administrators, team members and breast cancer survivors hiked along the indoor walking trail within the hospital.

As part of the event, Commissioner Boyd presented a proclamation to the hospital declaring October as “Pink October”.

Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer among women in the United States. In 2011 it is estimated that more than 200,000 women, 14,000 of them Floridians, will be diagnosed with breast cancer.  If caught early, breast cancer has over a 90% cure rate.
