Deputy Sheriff Arrested, Relieved of Duty

An Orange County Deputy Sheriff has been arrested for domestic violence and relieved from duty.

Around 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Lake Mary police officers went to the home of Deputy Sheriff Michael Shambaugh in connection with an investigation by Child Protection Services.

Upon arrival they noticed the physical condition of Shambaugh’s wife and determined there was probable cause to take D/S Shambaugh into custody.

Deputy Shambaugh was taken to the Seminole County Jail for processing. His law enforcement credential and firearms were confiscated.

Shambaugh was relieved from duty as an Orange County Deputy Sheriff.

OSCO Professional Standards Section will be conducting an administrative review of the circumstances.
