Tomorrow in Baltimore, Maryland, President Obama will announce details of the Small Business Jobs and Wages Tax Cut, one of his new proposals to create good jobs in America. In last night’s State of the Union Address, President Obama outlined a series of ways he will fight to create good paying jobs and continue our economic recovery.

Verizon to let go 13,000 Workers
Verizon Communications Inc., the second-largest U.S. phone company, is getting ready to cut 13,000 jobs against a $653 million net loss in the fourth quarter of 2009. In 2009, Verizon chopped 13,000 positions, ending the year with 117,000 employees.

Orlando Gas Prices Fall
Average retail gasoline prices in Orlando fell just 0.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.73/g today. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.70/g, according to gasoline price website OrlandoGasPrices.com.

Orlando metropolitan area–Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole–unemployment rate for December 2009 was 11.9 percent, unchanged from the previous month. This represents 131,386 persons jobless out of a labor force of 1,105,303.
