‘Calling In Reinforcements’: Orlando Police Launch New Dog Walker Watch Program

1434508865921Orlando Police Department will launch a new program that aims to enlist dogs in the fight against crime.

On Thursday, July 16, Orlando Police Department is hosting a Yappy Hour for residents to learn about the new Dog Walker Watch program, at Park of the Americas, 201 Andes Avenue at 5:00 p.m.

OPD officers and the K-9 Unit will be present to discuss how citizen dog walkers could serve as extra eyes and ears for law enforcement.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and his dog Sammie, will join with District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz for the first National Night Out Dog Walker Watch Yappy Hour.

Tonight’s event is one in a series leading up to National Night Out on August 4, to highlight the Neighborhood Watch program.
