CELEBRATING BUDDHA’S BIRTHDAY!
On May 15th 2011, Buddha’s Light International Association will be celebrating Buddha’s Birthday at Guang Ming Temple, a traditional Chinese imperial style temple whose attendance has grown rapidly over the last few years, and is currently known as the largest Buddhist temple in the state of Florida. The Buddha’s Birthday celebration is held annually by Buddhist of every nationality, and is known as the Bathing Buddha Festival. Based on last year’s attendance, we are expecting over 1, 500 people to attend.
This Festival is open to everyone, not just those who have chosen to follow Buddhist teachings.
After the brief Bathing Buddha ceremony, a beautiful and moving spiritual experience, there will be music and entertainment. The Taiko drummers will be performing again this year (a spectacular event you will not want to miss.)
The vendor’s booths will offer various crafts and gifts, and an opportunity to participate in the delicious experience of carefully prepared Asian-vegetarian cuisines. The third floor of the temple will exhibit beautiful artwork depicting Buddha’s life, surrounded by gorgeous ikebana flower arrangements and amazing bonsai specimens. The children’s area will have many activities, including an opportunity to dunk one of our Youth Group volunteers in the dunk tank!
Adding to all these activities and excitement, there will be raffle drawings for various prizes such as an iPad, a laptop computer, and 42” LED television set, and much, much more!
