Tangelo Park Elementary School principal Tashanda Brown-Cannon accepted $51,000 for her school from Bacardi U.S.A., Inc. through its campaign Bacardi Cares.
With help from the school’s Community Partner in Education, President and COO of Rosen Hotels & Resorts Harris Rosen, the school first received a check for more than $30,000. An additional check for $20,000 followed on the day of the check presentation. Bacardi also donated art supplies for every student. Mr. Rosen reached out to the Bacardi Corporation to help Tangelo Park Elementary in support of its motto “Excellence is the Only Option.”
Ms. Brown-Cannon plans to use the money to upgrade technology in classrooms and replace cafeteria and classroom furniture.
Tangelo Park is one of the district’s 114 “A” rated schools. Principal Tashanda Brown-Cannon is also the State Elementary Literacy Leader of the Year as announced by the Florida Department of Education earlier this year. Congratulations once again to Tangelo Park Elementary!
