This is serious.  People are pissed and just starting to figure out that the economy is structurally damaged and Wall Street is the culprit.

One of the biggest reasons why the American people do not understand what is happening to the economy is because our politicians and the mainstream media are not telling the truth.  Barack Obama and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke keep repeating the phrase “economic recovery” over and over, and this is really confusing for most Americans because things sure don’t seem to be getting much better where they live.

There are millions upon millions of Americans that are sitting at home on their couches right now wondering why they lost their jobs and why nobody will hire them.  Millions of others are wondering why the only jobs they can get are jobs that a high school student could do.

On February 17, Orlando’s Mayor Buddy Dyer, the Orlando City Council, the Orlando Magic and the City of Orlando’s Celebrate Black History Committee will sponsor an African-American Business Expo.  It will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Amway Center, 400 West Church Street.

The FREE Expo will provide an opportunity for business owners to network with one another and learn from industry experts and various economic development organizations about how to start and/or grow their business.  Topics include state and local business incentive programs, available space for lease in Downtown Orlando and other small business assistance programs.

An African-American Storytelling Event will be held on on February 21, at the City Hall Rotunda, 300 South Orange Avenue. This FREE, family-friendly event will begin at 1:00 pm and end at 4:00 pm, and will include face painting, African dance performances, crafts for children and refreshments.

New this year will be the presentation of a $1,000 Black History Month scholarship to a local high school senior during the City Council meeting on February 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, 400 South Orange Aenue, 2nd floor.  The award is based on a 1,200-word written essay, on the topic, “Coming Home–The Importance of Giving Back to Community.”  The presentation will be made by Mayor Dyer, the Orlando City Council and the Orlando Magic.

Video of Publix armed robbery suspect

Two armed suspects who robbed a Daytona Beach Publix on Monday have been caught, after eyewitnesses helped police nab the robbers at a local apartment less than three miles from the supermarket.

Police believe that the suspects may be linked to other Publix robbers in Winter Park and Seminole County, and the ring leader may be a former Publix employee who was fired.
